Short sea kayak tours

Lauréat National Or - Les grands prix du tourisme Québécois 2010You choose the departure you wish for your tour. We garanty all departure even with one person for any 3 hours tour. There is an average of 4 departures a week for the one day trip. Our excursions vary between 2 to 6 persons in the group. Make sure to RESERVE EARLY!

Tour packages for groups of 8 persons and more are also available.

Paddle jacquets and pants are provided at no extra cost. It does also include water shoes and pooguies to keep your hands warm when needed. We suggest you, to bring your bathing suit during the hot summer day break at l'Anse de Tabatière. (see needed equipment)

All sea-kayak tours include instructions, interpretation, high-quality kayaks and paddles, water-proof clothing if required, dry bags, as well as the services of a well-trained guide.

Set off on an expedition from L’Anse-Saint-Jean, one of Quebec’s most picturesque villages (it’s actually a member of the Association des Plus Beaux Villages du Québec). Follow the waterways of adventure down the legendary Saguenay Fjord, renowned as one of the world’s most awesome. All in an area where two large parks, the Parc du Saguenay and the Saguenay-St. Lawrence Marine Park, join to protect the pristine natural setting.

You’ll fall in love with the world of the Fjord before you know it- a world of natural wonder and historic legend. A haven of peace surrounded by nature in its wildest, most mesmerizing forms. Where you can watch the grey seals play.

ITINERARY *

Departure from L’Anse-Saint-Jean. Sea kayak basics and safety training. We navigate around l’îlet Saint-Jean, nesting grounds of the amusing spotted sandpiper. Then we continue on through the fjord and its many coves. And here the splendor of the fjord opens up before us with a glorious view of the majestic Capes Liberté, Égalité and Fraternité. This enchanting vision will leave you with a lasting impression of this magnificent coastline.

On the summer hotter days, we take a swim at L’Anse de Tabatière. So bring along your bathing suit! During your outing, you may catch sight of a seal, because the seals love to follow kayaks. Living on the fjord, at the edge of the water, in complete tranquility is the best way to discover the savage beauty of the Saguenay-Saint-Laurent water park.

Equipment needed and included

You are planning to join us for a short excursion, so here is a list of material you will need.

INCLUDED

  • Water proof jackets are provided for all our guests
  • We provide water shoes and “pooguies” to keep your feet and hands warm if needed.
  • We lend you a 5 liters dry bag for your camera.

  • sport hat for the day (June & sept.: warm hat and gloves for the evening). We have “pooguies” (warm-ups for hands) for the day.

* 1 day sea-kayak excursion is not available every day. Please call Fjord en kayak as soon as possible to check start dates. If you call early, you’ll be able to schedule you own departure date.

We cross the fjord to meet the seals since they love to follow our kayaks.

At Cap Trinité, we float along under cliffs of a dizzying height. In our way back, we explore another renowned Saguenay backdrop, the mysterious Saint-Louis and Saint-Barthélémy Islands.
